Charleston, SC, October 1, 2009—Charleston Ear, Nose and Throat Associates, a group practice of nine board-certified otolaryngologists, has achieved continued accreditation of its on-site surgery center, The Surgery Center of Charleston, by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Status as an accredited facility means that Charleston Ear, Nose

and Throat has met rigorous, nationally-recognized standards set by the association. Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC's expert surveyors. After its assessment, AAAHC recognized the facility and staff "for providing the highest standard of care and technology to its patients.

"The Surgery Center of Charleston is an independent facility co-located in Charleston Ear, Nose and Throat's West Ashley medical office complex on Savage Road. Opened in 1997, it includes two operating suites as well as supporting pre-operative and post- operative recovery units. According to Michael Grubb, Executive Director, "it was built to provide our doctors and their patients with superior outpatient surgical services, focusing on quality of care and patient comfort and convenience, while controlling costs." The Center is staffed by highly experienced anesthesiologists, Registered Nurses and medical assistants. It boasts state-of-the-art technologies, "which enable patients to get the best ENT surgical care without having to go to a hospital," said Grubb. Charleston Ear, Nose and Throat physicians perform a variety of diagnostic and surgical procedures in the treatment of the ear, nose, sinuses, pharynx, larynx, oral cavity, neck, thyroid, salivary glands, bronchial tubes and esophagus, as well as cosmetic surgery of the face, head and neck.
